Bollywood Actresses Who Have Been UN Ambassadors

Recently, the fictional character Wonder Woman was appointed the UN Honorary Ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls. But, did you know there are many Indian actresses who have appointed as the UN ambassadors in the past?

Priyanka Chopra - The Quantico actress is also known for her charity internationally. You might be surprised to know that she has worked with UNICEF for the children’s rights and women’s education, and was appointed as the UNFPA Ambassador in 2010.

Manisha Koirala - Another Indian actress, who was also the UNFPA ambassador back in 1989. She worked for preventing human trafficking.

Lara Dutta - After being crowned as the Ms. Universe in 2000, she was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador to India for the UNFPA.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - In 2012, she was appointed as the International Goodwill Ambassador, with the aim of raising awareness on issues related to stopping new HIV infections in children.

Shabana Azmi - Did you know that she is the current Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund. She works toward spreading contraception and abortion in India in order to limit the country's population.
