So I don’t need tribal print palazzos but I see them online, like the price and I want them; before I know it Myntra rings my bell and I am experiencing buyer’s remorse. There are so many other examples of things we want but have no need for. I recently bought a portable USB fan that fits into my handbag, nearly all of the kitchen tools on this list, several of the home office gadgets here, a USB portable light to let me read in bed and so on. But there’s more:
I came across this on Twitter and thought to myself how cozy and comfy is that! A giant beanbag to snuggle up in – for a winter nap to watch a good movie… I certainly don’t need it, I'm not sure I have the space for it in the flat we currently live in, but do I want it? Hell yeah!
Now I can easily use the torch in my phone to search for things that have settled deep into the bowels of my handbag, which cannot be seen by the human eye. But this is just so clever! It is a light with a motion sensor that comes on automatically. It lives inside the bag and comes alive whenever you need to find the key or comb that annoyingly, seems to have disappeared.
I have often wished for something that would prevent my fingers from getting ice cold while working during the more brutal days of a Delhi winter. This gadget fits the bill. It is a mouse pad which is also a heating pad and a kind of cozy mitt. The hand slips into this warn little cavern when one wants to use the mouse and there is even a little bit of cushioning there for the wrist.
There are a lot of stress balls on the market, they are supposed to let you vent your frustration or anxiety or stress by squeezing these defenceless little objects. I particularly like the tomato and the egg ones because we would never squeeze an actual egg or tomato – because mess!
We have been so inundated with rain recently, that I had to wade through water to get to my car the other day. I actually wished I had a pair of waterproof socks so that I didn’t have to feel the squishy dirt underfoot and in my slippers. These actually seem like a great idea right now.
As someone from Gujarat, the idea of the having a swing on every porch is a common one for me. So this rocking bed makes a lot of sense to me. Never mind practical problems such as where I would find one or even how I would get something like this into my house.
Sometimes you don’t want to ask for help or maybe there’s no one at home at the time to help. There are times in life when this very specific tool that serves a very limited purpose could become necessary. Those times would be rare, but so what! It’s a nifty little thing!
You could say it’s scarily realistic or you would say it is adorably cute. Either way this is a novelty item and a sure shot conversation starter. Do I need it? Most certainly not. But do I want it? Definitely yes.
