We cannot imagine our lives without smartphones! After all, our friends, family, work, reminders, savings, and everything else happen through that phone. So let’s go backwards and try to imagine some scenarios and how would they be different had there been smartphones.

Selfies to make Paro feel guilty

Can you imagine Devdas wasting away in a far off land but taking regular selfies of his fall into alcoholism, and sending them off to Paro?

Its all your fault Paro

It’s all your fault Paro

Vijay Verma could have been located from his check-ins

Now thats ATTITUDE!

Now that’s ATTITUDE!

Imagine Deewar and the scene where Peter and his goons were looking for Vijay Verma to beat him up. Of course with smartphones and check-ins, Peter would have seen a message on his Smartphone that read, “Vijay Verma is at the go-down” and he would have known exactly where to send his goons. But then, we wouldn’t have had the iconic dialogue, “Tum log mujhe wahan dhoond rahe the aur main tumhara yahan intezaar kar raha tha”.

Hawaa Hawaii wouldn’t need to dance for evidence

Ha wi wi wi wi wi wi wi

Ha wi wi wi wi wi wi wi

When the cross connection happened between Seema and the bad guys, she dressed up as Hawaa Hawaii to gather evidence. With her smartphone she could have recorded the whole conversation and evidence would be ready.

Prem could have sent his ‘pehle pyar ki pehli chitthi’ using WhatsApp or Skype

No more Kabootar Ja Ja Ja

No more Kabootar Ja Ja Ja

The pigeons could have been spared, and the audience as well. Prem could have told Suman of his love using any of the fantastic messengers. The first hug would have still been as powerful and the movie as big a hit.

And then there are the minute but hilarious changes that modern technology would have brought to a story line that we couldn’t have grown up without.

Boys will be boys and men will be men

Whether they are riding horses, riding bikes or driving cars, boys and men get an adrenaline rush. Road conditions, fast vehicles and adrenaline can prove to be dangerous for both people and their vehicles, as Joy and Heeru discover in this one, so it is a good thing that they had smartphones with them.

Sardar would’ve have been forced to do his own work

Smartphones have forced many, otherwise indulged, people to pull their own weight. At a time when our lives have become so busy it is a huge boon to have apps for everything. This new HDFC ERGO  short film is also telling the same story.

Thakur’s quest for vengeance would have taken a completely different turn

What do you suppose would have happened if Thakur had access to modern technology and smartphones? Something like this we suppose, and what a twist in the story that would have been.
