Rs. 500 And Rs. 1000 Notes Banned, Here Are Some Ideas On What You Can Do With Them Now

Even as I type this PM Narendra Modi is announcing on TV the ban on Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes, effective midnight on November 9, 2016. So tomorrow you cannot use these for any monetary transactions. You can however use the other ones, (100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1) if you can get your hands on them. But those of you who just withdrew money from an ATM or have been hoarding some of the black stuff, here is what you can do with your pieces of paper after midnight.

Oh Edddard! Apparently one does. So here are some alternative options

Winter is coming

Heat sources will be required. And to start a fire it is always a good idea to have something that catches fire quickly. Paper has been the age old favourite for this purpose.

Offer it to the Gods during Lohri

It's only a couple of months away. And you do have to give a bunch of things, as offering to the Gods, right? Might as well give them money, sorry, paper that used to be money.

Create beautiful patterns and use them as wallpaper

Yes, yes these are dollars, but we can create such beautiful patterns with Gandhi's face as well, can we not? And the different hues of the Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes will make for great contrast.

Use them to play Monopoly

One of the all time favourites for little children and future real estate moguls, this game is one where knowing how to handle money is a major part of the game. So, in case you lose the paper money that comes in the box you can use the money that is as good as paper now.

Donate it to God

God and those who take care of God, are in constant need of funds. That is why you will see a lot of donation boxes placed at strategic locations in temples. Before December 30th, you can donate to God, assuage your guilt for not giving enough, and also be rid of your illegal tender.

Use them next Diwali, instead of crackers

Buying crackers and burning them is as good as burning money. So hold on to the Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes until next year Diwali. And just burn them up. You can also use your evil laugh while you are burning it all up. (Bawhawhawhawhawhawhaw)

Give to the party fund of a politician of your choice

We all know that no matter what date ModiJi declares, the political parties will do their own thing. So in case you have been meaning to give to a political party fund, but haven't done so yet, then this is a good time to do it. Clearly this photo indicates that Mayawati accepts all kinds of currency notes.
