In a proud moment for India, ace sportsman Jitu Rai won the Champion of the Champions title 2016 conferred by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). Here are a few facts you would like to know about him!
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) awarded the Champion of the Champions title 2016 to Jitu Rai on Sunday.
He won the Champions Trophy on Sunday in 10m Air Pistol category after defeating Serbia’s Damir Mikec.
He is an army man and holds the position of a Naib-Subedar in the 11 Gorkha Rifles, Lucknow and has won many accolades for Indian sports.
Jitu is disappointed with his Olympics performance and wants to never repeat it again. This is the reason why he is taking special care of his performance.
Although Jitu blames himself for a disappointing Olympic performance, ace shooter Abhinav Bindra and National Rifle Authority of India (NRAI) have portrayed a different picture.
Both Abhinav and NRAI claims that Jitu wasn't assisted with the requisite expertise needed during such an intense gaming event and hence he is not at fault. But Jitu does not believe in this blame game and wants to focus on his career.
Jitu was conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2016 along with three other athletes just after Olympics.
