Living in India and not knowing how to bargain is like the biggest sin ever. Right from the vegetable guy, to your landlord, to striking a deal and bargaining on the price is like a birthright of every consumer. But what if you are not gifted with this talent? The maximum bargain you can strike is around Rs. 20-50 less and that also is an uphill task. Here are a few things that anyone who cannot bargain experiences.

1. It doesn’t really matter which shopping place gives a bargain window

You go shopping thinking that everything has a fixed price, no matter where you’ll buy it from. And until and unless there’s a sale, you don’t even contemplate the possibility of getting something at discounted rates.

2. Saying “Bhaiya sahi paise lagalo” is one of the biggest struggles you ever had

For you, it’s as scary as someone putting a knife on your neck.

3. You envy every person who knows how to bargain

You start thinking they are blessed with some sort of a superpower, one which you clearly lack.

4. Learning how to bargain is your dream

You look up to people who know how to bargain as your idols and dream of becoming as good as them one day.

5. You die inside when someone says a particular place is good for getting a good bargain

Oh dear Lord! Someone please tell them that I don’t have the skills to take advantage of such a place.

6. You never go street shopping alone

Whenever it comes to shopping at a place where you need to bargain, you always need a partner (who is a pro at it) to tag along with you.

7. Understanding the rules of bargaining is like rocket science for you

What? How? But why? Please explain these bargaining equations to me in a more elaborate manner.

8. You secretly hate the concept of bargaining

Only if the concept of bargaining didn’t exist, the world would have been a better place for you.
