We could say that Father’s Day is an invention of commerce meant to sell merchandise – everything from schmaltzy ‘best dad’ mementoes to hobby kits, gadgets to alcohol. We have all embraced it with enthusiasm – with ‘heartfelt’ social media posts and of course the inevitable Father’s Day gifts. It is no wonder then that brands saw this as a great way to sell too.
