Pak Driver Drives Indian for Free & People Loved It!

Indian social media’s fave insult for perceived anti-nationals is to tell them to go to Pakistan. Our government also flexes its political muscle by showing aggression for our closest neighbor. Even Bollywood has made it a practice to demonise the Paki and to frame the country and its people as inimical to our wellbeing. In this atmosphere of suspicion and hate, when people of India and Pakistan make generous gestures towards each other, this is always welcome.

Prabhdeep Singh had this story to share

This Twitter user says that this was his best experience with Uber; a service he has used in five continents. He spoke about his cabbie Ahmed who refused to take money from him because he was a guest in his country.

People were reminded of this

This touching exchange between an Indian and Pakistani reminded one Twitter user of a Google Search ad from a few years ago. This ad caused numerous eyes to well up with emotion in the past; doubtless it did so again in this instance.

Indians loved the gesture

Love begets love. Many Indian twitter users expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the gesture of the Pakistani cab drivers.

Political problem?

There is a strongly held view that Indo-Pak problems are not as intractable as they seem to be; that political parties have a vested interest in keeping things simmering between the two countries.

Similar stories

Many Twitter users shared similar heartwarming stories about positive experiences that they had had across the border from their own country.

More commonalities than differences

It is instances such as these that remind us of all that Indians and Pakistanis have in common with each other: the food, the language, the way of living, belief systems, lifestyles and more!

In the end everyone wants peace

The common people of both countries understand that there is no personal enmity between the two. No one wants war. Everyone wants a peaceful existence and a chance to progress and prosper. When someone like Prabhdas Singh has a positive experience such as this one, we are all reminded of this central fact of life… here as well as the other side of the border.
