Today the UK is a small country of modest military might and international clout. That wasn’t always so. There was a time when this small island nation ruled a third of the globe and was engaged in enriching itself at the cost of severely impoverishing the rest of the world. However I am writing in a language that the Brits brought to India --- and you are reading it. I wonder what I would say if someone asked me “Say Something Nice about the UK”
There were any answers – some sincerely good, some sincerely bad and some sincerely sarcastic.
That is a massive repast – I don’t think most people would be able to consume all the food in that image.
Most of the food on that plate is said to have originated in places other than England, pointed out some of the tweeple.

The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen...I would add Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Genesis, Deep Purple, Def Leppard...
Then said this. Alas, Freddie Mercury was not born in England but he spent his most creative years there.
The British were famous for their imperialism and colonisation – as well as their divide and rule policy where it suited them.
Many hark back to the fact that the British set up the railway system in India – which they did, but only to facilitate the easy movement of goods and raw materials to fill their own coffers.
They had many good things to say
Others would say that the areas colonised by the Brits were what funded their industrial revolution, and accommodated their population explosion.
There are so many countries today that celebrate their independence day – just because of the British.
Well, it is spectacular … if one has never seen anything else.
Like Shaun the Sheep and Thomas the Tank Engine.
Pretty sure this is sarcastic – practically nothing in that picture is healthy.
Chicken tikka masala is the most popular dish in the country – and that is certainly not British.
Maybe this has something to do with the sense of humour that people went on about.
They look nice even if they are cold and inconvenient inside.
When asked to “say something nice about the UK” this was a simple, short answer.
