Hotels across the world have different standards. Just the label of ‘4-star’ or ‘5-star’ means nothing. If you’re in India, the biggest fight of standards come in 3-star and 4-star hotels. You’re really not sure what to expect from these hotels. When you make the booking, you are hoping for something above a budget hotel and then you get the shock of your life when you don’t seem to get anything you really wanted. So, if you’re checking into a 4 star hotel and above, these are the things you can definitely demand for. For anything below a 4-star it’s the hotel discretion really.

A long beard is in fashion, but still if you want to shave but forgot your shaving kit, don’t worry about it. Make a call to the desk, and ask them to get you a shaving kit.

If you do not see any soap or shampoo in your hotel room, you have all the rights you ask it for free. If you want some for your remaining trip, you can request them to give you some more. You will get it!

Nightly service might be included in your package, but still, if you want someone to make your bed, you can ask for the service and you won’t be charged for this.

Plastic bags are one of the simplest necessities and you may need it anytime. Well, if you got an emergency and need a plastic bag, make a call and you will get one.
7. Small lotion

Generally, most of the hotels provide you soaps, conditioner, shampoo and sometimes a small bottle of lotion. However, if you find that missing you can ask the staff to get one for you.
8. Chocolates

There are many hotels who leave behind chocolates while changing the bed sheets! This is in fact a sort of respect and friendly behaviour that the hotel wants you to realize. Love those chocolate truffles? You can ask them to give you some more.

If you are staying in a luxury room, car service is one of the most basic services you can enjoy. There are many hotels that offer the guest a free luxury car service between certain hours.
10. Travel guide and maps

Most of the hotels leave travel guide and maps on the table in your room, but if you don’t find them, you can ask the hotel staff to arrange for the same. Feel free to take home these travel resources unless you see any type of price sticker on them.
