Out of all the genres, we feel thrillers are the most strenuous on the mind of the author, after of course, fantasy, which requires the creation of a whole new world, and most of all, making it believable.

Today, we are here with our first book review of the category, and quite a popular one too, for the lovers of mystery and edge-of-the-seat thrillers. The Girl On The Train, by Paula Hawkins.

Why you should read it?

There are limited characters; The alcoholic Rachel, her ex-husband’s current wife Anna, and Megan, the nanny employed by Anna, Tom, Rachel’s ex and Anna’s current husband, and Scott, Megan’s husband.

The plot is crisp and keeps moving at fast pace. It does not require mindless twists and innumerable introductions to keep it going.

Every chapter rolls out delicious twists for your mind to explode with thrilling orgasms! For the reader inside you, every twist is a treat in this book.

The characters are imperfect and relatable. Especially Rachel, the main protagonist becomes an inspiration, in the way she comes out of her addiction and ultimately nabs the real culprits by claiming her lucidity.

The concept of an alcoholic woman watching a couple from a train and weaving a story of their perfect life and marriage, could have easily gone the predictable way of psychological disorder and mental illness kind of thriller. To our delight, it is nowhere so.

Our Rating

Bookworms at TheStoryPedia give this thrill gem a solid 5/5. If you are going on a long ride of 3 to 4 hours, this is one book which will make the journey worth it.

Stay tuned! We are coming up with more, every week.
