I truly think that memes are like snapshots of pop culture, social trends and beliefs. Memes, I daresay will, in a sense inform history when we look back upon them. They tell us what catches the imagination and why, they make us laugh, and even make us think – all witty brevity. Here are some of 2021’s most viral memes:
He was the guy who lost out to the ultimate winner Joe Biden, but Bernie Sanders and his handmade mittens won out at the inauguration of POTUS.
This Twitter-like Indian Koo has been around for a couple of years, but it caught people’s fancy only in February this year when the government was seen to be at loggerheads with Twitter.
The queen of chat, Oprah snagged an interview with the estranged royal couple Harry and Meghan. These were moments made for memes.
This Pakistani girl went wildly viral for a short, inconsequential video ‘Pawri’ clip – for no reason at all!
Yeh hum hai, yeh hamari car hai aur yeh hamari pawri hori hai.
So many memes, so many suggestions.
This sanskari meme – from an old Sooraj Bharjatya film became viral for unknown reasons.
Why this became a meme is anyone’s guess, but Tharoor breaking a coconut did become a meme. 2021 was a good year for memes – if not for much else.
