Some Ideas for Things to Do In the UAE Over This Festive Season

Now with the mercury dipping to more comfortable levels in the UAE, people become more inclined to step out for events. Consequently there is an uptick in events organised in the UAE; particularly in Dubai and Sharjah especially with the festive Diwali season coming up. Here is what is on offer:

Currently the 37th edition of the Sharjah Book Fair is on. Inaugurated on 30^th October, the event will continue till 10^th November. This year's theme is Tale of Letters and the location is the Expo Centre Sharjah.

This yearly running event happens at the Dubai Autodrome. It is a 5 km run where at each lap, the runners are doused with different colours. After the run, there is a party with music, dancing and more colour!

With the festival of lights coming up in the city, and with the largest number of expats being Indians, this is one to watch out for. There will be a fireworks display at the creek on the occasion of Diwali and there will also be a first ever diya lighting ceremony for families on 7^th November.

Festivities over a ten day period are organised. There will be Bhangra stage performances, a supercar display and a Dubai police marching bands performance. There will also be a Guinness would record attempt for the largest ever LED lights in relay on 10^th November at the Al Seef Dhow Deck.

There are fifteen diamond necklaces up for  grabs for those who spend Dh 200 at Dubai Shopping Malls Group (to receive a raffle coupon) from 1^st to 10^th November. There will be a Diwali-themed bazaar at Al Seef, Dubai Creek. There will be a special IMAGINE show at the Dubai Festival City Mall with laser fire, water and light performances on 7^th November. Ibn Battuta Mall will feature Bollywood themed interactive activities and entertainment.

There will be a concert in remembrance of Michael Jackson at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on November 7.

The star composers of Bollywood, the trio of Shankar Ehsaan and Loy will perform at Bollywood Parks on 9^th November. After this, Bombay Vikings volcalist, Neeraj Sridhar will take to the stage on 10^th

The ultimate Bollywood musical will feature the beloved vocalists Shaan and KK on Friday, 9^th November. This takes place at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
