Sooraj Pancholi had been in the headlines for a lot of reasons last year. But the worst piece of news that we read about him was his getting the ‘Best Male Debutant’ award at the Filmfare Awards. What’s worse? He actually beat out Vicky Kaushal’s stupendous performance in Masaan to do so. Here’s why Sooraj winning the Filmfare was so wrong
Yet again name wins over talent!
Born with a silver spoon and launched by Bhai (Salman Khan), it was Sooraj’s surname that won over talent and hard work in this case, despite torturing us with dummy expressions and shirtless scenes.
It proves how Bollywood awards don’t mean much!
Filmfare was one of those few award ceremonies that has always been questionable but last year, Queen won Best Picture. Or was that because it was Kangana? Either way after giving Sooraj the debutant award over Vicky Kaushal is proof that Bollywood awards are completely bogus.
Good looks win over acting talent!
Talk to any girl and she’ll let you know about her undying love for Sooraj Pancholi and his abs. Talk to her about Vicky Kaushal, however, and she wouldn’t even know who he is. So clearly, are the ‘prestigious’ Filmfare awards have teenage girls on its panel.
It’s all about Commercial cinema!
Half the country must have gone out to watch a silly movie like hero (although better sense prevailed and the film rightfully tanked at the Box Office), but how many of you went to watch a gem like Masaan?
Godfather Matters!
Another cliché that this award proved right, if you want to get famous in Bollywood, you better have a Khan or Kapoor acting as godfather.
