People Answer an Important Question, Tweeting with the #WhyImSingle Hashtag

There are plenty of reasons why getting married is a great idea. You may be lucky enough to have found that person who is really right for you. However, I do also acknowledge why there are at least as many reasons not to marry; to enjoy singledom, be footloose and fancy free… sometimes out of choice and at times not so much. Here is why some people are single; they explain with the #WhyImSingle Hashtag

Awkward!

Some of us are just socially awkward and cannot navigate a room full of people if our lives depended upon it. Perhaps these are the people for whom the institution of arranged marriage was invented?

Ideological differences

Two people could have ideological differences – political, religious and so on. Or it could simply be that one is a Marvel fan and the other a DC fan. Coexistence would become difficult; at least peaceful coexistence.

The family

It could be an overbearing mother, a forbidding father, a garrulous granny or an appalling sibling, that put off that significant other. But hey, if that significant other couldn’t take your family in their stride, maybe you're better off without them!

Choice?

This is an honest tweet! ‘Single by choice’ and ‘not my own’ it says. It is the lament of so many out there who are told that there is that one special person out there for them: “Where!” they cry out in unison!

Simple!

They say all the good ones are taken. They are mostly right, as this twitterer appears to have discovered.

Not very bright?

Now this situation I totally identify with – been there, done that (almost exactly that). And I found someone! So there is hope for you yet, Tippy! There are vast multitudes out there who are just as bright/ not bright!

Very, very specific!

This guy clearly has some very specific interests and figures that is the reason he's single. He may well be right. That hunky parrot-like-creature playing American football is just weird!

Because adjustment!

The fact is that singletons get to do what they want, when they want and if they want. When you're in a relationship you have to think about the other person's feelings, desires, needs… a single person would have to think very hard whether a possible love interest is worth giving all that up for!

“Trust no man!”

Seems to be a case of once bitten twice shy? Surely that is a little extreme! That said, it is always, always a great thing to be able to enjoy one's own company!

Hmmm!

Can we say self-obsessed! Brandy B here says ‘great conversation’ but clearly it was a monologue; considering the amount of attention she gave to the person in front of her!

Because self-love!

Sure loving yourself is a good thing and a healthy self-esteem is a must! But there is such a thing as having too good an opinion of oneself!

No sharing!

Control, remote control, same thing! If you have to control the remote control, you're probably a control freak! She’s probably joking, but if she isn’t, maybe growing up would be a good idea!

Gotta love this grandma!

For a change it’s not the parents that don’t approve, it’s the grandkids! And sneaking around is never a good idea – at her age or any… if you love someone, you should be able to tell the world about it! Meanwhile I hope the granny finds someone who is her joie de vivre; her chutzpah!
