We are to have quite a few movies brimming over with patriotism that will release around Independence Day. Bell Bottom promises to be one of them; with Akshay Kumar promising to save the day yet again. A song from the movie was recently released. More than the Marjaawaan song itself, the song poster caused something of a stir on Twitter.
The release of a new song called Marjaawaan from the film was announced via the actor's Twitter handle.
Many liked the song; particularly the voice of the singer. The song is sung by Gurnazar & Asees Kaur.
A lot of people loved the song – a Punjabi love ballad shot in some very glamorous locations and luxurious settings. If the film’s setting is supposed to be the 1980s, this is odd.
If the ‘hero’ is some government functionary or defence personnel his standard of living seems very atypical. In the 80s especially, Mercedes cars in India were as rare as hen’s teeth.
People liked the song’s visuals and many of the tweeple the pairing of Vaani Kapoor with Akshay Kumar as well.
The age difference of a generation – Kapoor is 32 to Kumar’s 53 – is neither acknowledged nor explained. This is considered perfectly acceptable in the industry as well as among most viewers, however.
The poster isn't an original idea. It had a been-there-done-that look and feel to it. Other previous films have scenes that are suspiciously similar.
Instagrammers and other influencers are known to do some daring, even dangerous stunts to grab attention and followers. People noticed that the movie’s song poster seemed to be copied from here.
And what is with all this leaning out of trains? Romance and grand gestures are one thing, but stupidly endangering self and loved ones is quite another thing.
Put side by side, the Marjaawaan song poster certain seems copied. In the comments, people also noticed that while the woman is wearing a summer frock the man is dressed in a leather jacket. Also, why does it seem as though Vaani Kapoor’s character is trying to push Akshay Kumar’s character off the train? One commentator also expressed the view that this is now the sort of thing people will try to do in their pre-wedding photoshoots – which is probably true.
The song Marjaawaan featuring Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor in Bell Bottom is sung by Asees Kaur and Gurnazar. It is glamorous, no doubt. At one point in the song, the couple appears in bed, in the middle of a pool in the middle of some other larger water body. Seems oddly uncomfortable – for the 80s or otherwise. The drive-in scene with older looking cars seems a little more authentic – maybe they decided not to insult our intelligence too much.
