Kangana Ranaut Is Back With a New Trailer, Ready to Take Panga

The ferociously talented Kangana Ranaut is always one to watch and this time she comes at us as a sportsperson, a mother, a woman with aspirations. The trailer of Panga introduces the story of Kabaddi player Jaya and promises a story about hope, about a struggle against societal constraint and family conventions.

Panga Official Trailer

This is a story about a Kabaddi player who wants to make a comeback at 32, after her sporting career has taken a backseat to matrimony, motherhood and a job in the railways for several years. The movie stars Kangana Ranaut as Jaya Nigam, Jassie Gill as Prashant, Richa Chadda as Meenu, Neena Gupta as Jaya’s mother and Pankaj Tripathi as well. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and written by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie releases on 24th Jan, 2020.

Positive reactions

Actor Sonam expressed her appreciation for the film trailer. (Hopefully, the appreciation meets the exacting standards of the lead actor and her belligerent sister.)

The versatility of Kangana Ranaut

Not only is she one of the most talented actors in the business, she is also one of the most versatile. She is not afraid to go de-glam; to dress down for the role.

Shout out to women with hopes and aspirations

The trailer suggests a movie that will inspire and offer hope to women with ambition; who want to be more than mother, sister, wife, daughter to the men in their lives.

Jassi Gill

Most Indian movie-goers have seen little of Punjabi singer and actor Jasdeep Singh Gill. His understated role in the film seems another one to watch out for.

Praise for Richa Chadha

Another formidable acting talent, Richa Chadha’s performance has also garnered positive reactions; another reason people are looking forward to this movie.

The kid to watch out for

Playing Jaya’s young son in the film, Yogya Bhasin as Adi asks one of the most important questions in this film: can’t a player make a comeback at 32?

“So 1980s”

Movies with aspirational themes such as these give reassurance to women who believe that marriage and babies need not be the end-all and be-all of a woman’s life.

Relatable

This is not a glamorous, larger than life role – it is Everywoman, it is all those women who juggle home and work, who get tired, but who manage to make the best of a difficult situation.
