An eerie silence and a creepy feeling of someone around when actually you are quite alone, these famous ghost towns of India are popular for a lot of reasons, some of being these! Abandoned by its native due to calamity or a mystical history, check out these ghost towns and know about them! 

Dhanushkodi

Dhanushkhodi is close to the city of Rameswaram and just 12 kms from Srilanka. However a cyclone in 1964 wiped out its natives. What remains now is abandoned houses and isolation. 

Lakhpat

This city was abandoned after an earthquake hit it and most natives abandoned it. It still has some monuments and historally important places, but no one stays there. 

Fatehpur Sikri

Emporer Akbar's capital city now lays abandoned and desolate. The reason behind it is shortage of water that led its native residents to move somewhere else. 

Ross Island

Habited by Britishers befor Independence, this place near Andamans had to face the brunt of an earthquakle in 1940. A few animals stay here now. 

Hampi

Although it has seen its moment of popularity earlier in the Vijaynagar kingdom, the capital city Hampi now lays abandoned with a few historical monuments and temples still there. 

Bhangarh

One of the most famous ghost towns of the country, this place is known for its supernatural powers, as reported by people who have stayed at this place overnight. No doubt, Government has banned anyone to enter this place after 6 p.m.

Kuldhara

History mentions that people in this village were threatened by a minister, owing to which they packed their bags and left overnight. What they left behind was a curse that this place will remain inhabited! 

Apart from these ghost towns, there are other places too around the world that reminds of isolation and depravity that once humans fought.
