Did You Miss the GOT Teaser Trailer? Here It Is

The previous teaser of Game of Thrones was a series of images from previous seasons and glimpses of long dead characters. Now the new GOT teaser is out and the speculation currently rages about what it all means and doesn’t mean. Check out the teaser and some of the reactions to it.

Fire and Ice

The fire and ice theme features in the teaser, but is very slow and somber. We see none of the characters but the trailer tells us that what the show has ultimately been building up to: the final battle between fire and ice via the tabletop map of Dragonstone.

Activation at Comic Con

The Comic Con event in Sao Paulo Expo featured an activation that reprised various aspects of the hit show: the iron throne, the map table, the fortress wall, gate etc. and let fans explore and take pictures.

Week long activation

The activation offered fans the chance to get an authentic GOT experience: to #PayYourRespects. They could sit on the throne, get behind the Wall and also watch some of the most significant scenes from previous seasons.

Is this a hint?

Here we see Arya Stark or Maisie Williams sitting on the Iron Throne. We also see John Bradley (Sam) doing the same. Was this just a photo op or were they trying to send out a message to viewers?

This reminded fans…

…That this would be the eighth and final season of the show – a show that has set new benchmarks in entertainment and TV shows in particular. This makes some people very sad indeed.

The teaser disappoints

Viewers kept thinking that there would be something informative in the trailer, something that gave a hint about things to come. But there wasn’t anything in there that fans didn’t already know. Some were quite exasperated indeed!

More!

Featuring little Oliver Twist as he asked for ‘More’, this tweet also seems, rather dolefully, to be asking for more; which the imperious series makers always seem loath to give. In fact they seem to delight in leaving people dangling in suspense, breathless for any clue about things to come.

This!

This, in a nutshell is that general reaction to the trailer: we know precisely nothing we didn’t already know but we’re happy and pathetically grateful nevertheless
