Celebs and Many Others Get On the #DollyPartonChallenge Bandwagon

She is one of the US’s best-known musicians; having inspired generations and seeming to never age at all. Dolly Parton was born in 1946 which would make her 74 now, but her pictures certainly belie that reality. When the country singer started the #DollyPartonChallenge challenge on Instagram, many joined in. The challenge also spread to other social media platforms:

“Get you a woman who can do it all

Ellen took up the challenge

The suit for LinkedIn, cool friends for Instagram, family for Facebook and a very questionable fashion choice for Tinder: Ellen sure can laugh at herself.

Museums got in on the act

“You can also find us on canvas, paper, marble, terracotta,” said the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York about some of the artistic treasures housed by the museum.

Soon…

The challenge was all over Twitter as well.

On Twitter

The #DollyPartonChallenge spread to Twitter where brands and organisations also got in on the act. The Dublin Fire Brigade clarified that they weren't on Tinder.

Brands, designers also got on board

Such as this designer

Billy Ray Cyrus

Most famous for being Miley Cyrus’s father and for his song Achy Breaky Heart, Billy Ray Cyrus recently reinvented himself with the record-breaking joint act with Lil Nas X in the Old Town Road.

Mark Ruffalo chimed in

Get a guy who will play them all he said to indicate the versatility of roles he has essayed in recent times.

We got to see adorable pets

Some frown on such anthropomorphisation of pets, but this is just so darn cute!

“Well rounded guy”

Actor Sterling K Brown referred to himself like this.

Trolling the President

Late show host Jimmy Kimmel and trenchant critic of Trump also joined the #DollyPartonChallenge.

A sub trend

Many were tweeting with #DollyPartonChallenge Trump.

Some were like…

Perhaps this is a comment on social media hypocrisy, where we all seem to mould and transform ourselves to suit the expectations of others. Shouldn’t we all be the same – whether on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tinder --- or real life? If the #DollyPartonChallenge is any indication, there are a lot of masks we wear and personalities we assume --- for others.
