If you have finally decided to do a summer internship during your holidays, then here comes the end to your late night talks, chats and hanging around with friends. In order to prepare you, here is a list of 6 things you may face during your first summer internship.

1. You won’t be a part of the office

You might not get invited to group lunch outings because somebody needs to be around to answer phone calls or check emails, and as an intern you will be expected to this.

2. You can expect to get a lot of work

Interns get a lot of work and the work could be anything, from getting a document photo copied to getting a cup of tea for your boss and you can’t refuse to do the work, as it will leave a bad impression on your seniors.

3. Sometimes you can feel how important you are

When you fire off an email from your company’s email address and you get a reply straight away, it feels good.

4. People in the office will refer to you as ‘just the intern’

It’s not always nice to hear that the person you spent hours doing research for doesn’t remember your name and refer to you as ‘the intern’ or a ‘workie’.

5. You’ll learn a lot of new things

If you are doing an internship for the first time then you’ll be exposed to many new things. You’ll be able to figure out what you like and dislike. You’ll also learn the importance of efficiency and time management. You’ll learn to pay attention to detail.
