Remember Harshvardhan Nawathe, KBC's First Winner? Here's What He Is Up To These Days

The first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati was aired on Star Plus in the year 2000. It was hosted by the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and soon became one of the most liked reality TV shows in India.

The season ended in 2001 with its first winner from Mumbai, Harshvardhan Nawathe, the son of an IPS officer. Now, it's been 17 years since he became the first crorepati of Kaun Banega Crorepati and we were wondering what is he up to these days. Lets find out.

Well, he is now a married man with two children. His wife, Sarika, is a TV actress who used to work in Marathi soap operas.

He was just a civil service aspirant before he became the star overnight. Due to all the limelight he couldn't focus on civil servcies and didn't appear for the exam. He knew his life would change after winning such a big show, but, he used his money wisely to pursue MBA from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland.

In a recent interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he said "I always wanted to become an IAS officer, but I couldn't pursue because there were some obligations and contracts by Star TV. But, I did not let my dream die down. I started working on projects which were close to the government. I have been associated with few NGO’s too."

In 2005, he returned to Mumbai and joined IL&FS, a financial service company. He later became the state director of Naandi Foundation in 2007, followed by becoming the COO of Naandi Community Water Services in 2009.

Currently, Harshvardhan Nawathe is working in a Dutch-based recruitment company as a Chief Executive Officer and leading a very happy life with his family and friends.
