She is 49 years old now, and has mostly appeared in the Bengali movies and has also won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her Bengali film 'Abosheshey'.
While in 2015, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and represented them in West Bengal Assembly elections 2016.
