Trains manufactured by Spanish firm Talgo may soon undertake trial runs on the existing Delhi - Mumbai route. These trains can run from 160 to 200 kmph.
An official from the Railway Ministry said, "We will be issuing the permission letter to Talgo after getting the Railway Board's approval for importing the rake to India. They (Talgo) have offered to do the trial with no cost to railways".
If they get an approval, the travel time between these two cities is expected to come down by a good 5 hours. At present, it takes 17 hours and with the high speed trains the total travel time will be only 12 hours.
