Govinda Slapgate - All You Need To Know

In 2008 Govinda slapped an alleged fan on the sets of 'Money Hai Toh Honey Hai' at Filmistan studio. The story went viral back then and then died out.
A year later the alleged victim Santhosh Rai filed cases against Govinda under sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (1) (Criminal intimidation).
Govinda responded to the allegations by saying that he had to take a stand (read stand as give a slap) because the alleged victim was actually troubling the female members on the sets.
The case went on for seven years and reached the Supreme Court, because Santosh Rai kept appealing to previous quashes.
Govinda admits to having slapped Santosh Rai but began to wonder about his motivation for keeping the case alive for all these years at at a cost of Rs. 5-6 Lakh. He asks if it could be political.
On December 1, 2015 the Supreme Court bench including Justice V Gopala Gowda, asked Govinda to apologise to the victim because (curiously) that's all Rai wanted from Govinda.
Govinda gave a statement saying that he respects what the Supreme Court had to say and was waiting for a copy of the final order to decide next steps.
