Bollywood Films Which Are Inspired By Malayalam Films

Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)

There are many films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which had an amazing storyline and were quite entertaining. But, did you know many such films were inspired by regional films?

Inspired by Manichitrathazhu (1993)

No doubt 'Bhool Bhulaiya' was a great movie, but if have you watched Manichitrathazhu (Malayalam film), then you may find it is way better than its Bollywood version (Bhool Bhulaiya).

Hera Pheri (2000)

This iconic movie was also inspired from a Malayam film, which was titled as 'Ramji Rao Speaking'. But we must say Babu Rao totally nailed it along with Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar.

Ramji Rao Speaking (1989)

It stars Saikumar, Mukesh, Innocent and Rekha in the lead roles. Innocent is still remembered for his iconic role in the movie, thanks to 'Ramji Rao Speaking'.

Garam Masala (2005)

Thanks to 'Garam Masala', we found an amazing comic duo, Akshay Kumar, and John Abraham with Paresh Rawal as the cook. But, it was inspired by a film called 'Boeing Boeing', which is considered as a classic comedy in Malayalam film industry.

It is said that Mohan Lal had an epic 'chicken cooking scene' in this movie which adds a perfect ingredient to it.

Bodyguard (2011)

No doubt Salman Khan's goofiness was just amazing in this movie, but many of you might not know that this movie was also inspired by a regional film with the same name Bodyguard.

Bodyguard (2010)

This movie stars Dileep and Nayantara in the lead roles, which was directed by Siddique. Later it was remade in into Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu which were also moderately successful at the box office.

Drishyam (2015)

Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran starring film 'Drishyam' was inspired by the original Drishyam in Malayalam.

Drishyam (2013)

It stars Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles and according to some critics, you'll be forced to admit that it's so much better than Ajay Devgan's Drishyam.
