9 Famous Movies Which You Didn't Know Were Based on Books

The Prestige

This is a widely known mystery thriller, directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and David Bowie. It was an adaptation of Christopher Priest's 1995 ver famous novel of the same name, which had won a World Fantasy Award.

Blade Runner

It is one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever done by Harrison Ford and was released in the year 1982. But, did you know that it was an adaptation of the 1968 novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' by Philip K. Dick?  

Die Hard

This movie is actually based on Roderick Thorp's 1979 novel "Nothing Lasts Forever", which itself is the sequel to the book and movie "The Detective", which stars Frank Sinatra in the lead role. 

Forrest Gump

If you're a fan of Tom Hanks, then you must have watched "Forrest Gump". But not many people know that, it is based on the 1986 novel with the same name by Winston Groom.

A 2002 film, which stars Tom Cruise in the lead role is loosely based on a short story written by Philip K. Dick by the same name. He is a well-known writer, who is also famous for his book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", on which the film 'Blade Runner' was based on.

Total Recall

This movie was based on the 1990 film, which had Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role with the same title. It was inspired by the 1966 short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale", again by Philip K. Dick.
