According to a report from Indianexpress.com, the makers of Robot 2.0 have recently signed a deal of Rs.110 Crore with Zee TV for the satellite rights of film’s Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. With this deal, Robot 2.0 has become the only movie to sell their satellite rights at such a high cost.
Previously, this record was held by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with an amount of Rs.100 Crore approx. They made a deal with Sony TV for Rs.51 Crore for its Hindi version, which is the highest revenue generated by a dubbed film so far. While its other versions collected an amount of Rs.45 Crore approx.
Aamir Khan starrer film Dangal's satellite rights were sold for Rs.75 Crore, which itself was a record made by any Aamir Khan film in the history of Bollywood.
Multi-starrer film Dhoom 3 which was released in 2013, sold its satellite rights to Sony Entertainment Television for an amount of Rs.75 Crore.
According to a few social media websites, satellite rights of the film Dilwale, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Kajol and Kriti Sanon were acquired for Rs.60 Crore by MSM (Multi Screen Media).
It was a major hit of the year 2016 by Bollywood star Salman Khan, which was based on the life of a wrestler. It is said that the rights of this film were bought by Sony TV Network for a whopping Rs.55 Crore.
Reportedly, the rights of the film Raees, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were sold to Zee Network for Rs.45 Crore, which makes it the 7th in this list.
Apparently, satellite rights of Kaabil, starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam were acquired by Star India for an amount of Rs.45 Crore, even before they started shooting for the film.
