Weird Smart Gadgets That Actually Exist

It is such fun to know about new gadgets – and I am in particular a complete sucker for something that is new and innovative and which fulfils some obscure purpose. Then there are smart gadgets that synch to the phone and do a bunch of clever things – even more fascinating! Here are some weird smart gadgets. That exist. That most people don’t even know about:

Alarm mat

This object insists upon waking you up. It will not shut up until you’ve stood on it for some seconds – by which time you're too disgusted to get back to bed and sleep. It claims to LOUD and will shut up only when it senses the pressure of a person standing on it.

Smart toothbrush

I always thought that an electric toothbrush is the height of laziness. Not the smart brush goes a few steps further it would seem. Not only does this vibrate to clean teeth, but it also tells you how to improve oral hygiene. It tells you how long to brush, how much pressure to apply, and so on. this connects to the phone to make sure you're doing it right.

Smart plate

This weighs food and then the phone scans it to identify what food it is, to tell you many calories you're going to be eating, nutrition information and so on. The app also helps create custom meal plans based on fitness goals, fave foods, age, lifestyle etc.

Smart toaster

This toaster features a touchscreen and helps you toast bread, muffins, bagels etc. It is faster than conventional toasters, helps in thawing, reheating, and more. It has 60+ settings and has an award-winning design – I suppose this is a great thing for people whose toast is important for them.

Smart water bottle

If you are someone who needs a reminder to drink water, this is for you. This has an LED display, intelligent cup with timer, and preset that goes off at certain times. This is recommended for office use, people who take medications and those with fitness goals.

Smart belt

This leather belt comes fitted with bluetooth, a fitness activity tracker, waist measurement, step counter among other things. It measures how long the wearer sits still, encourages the wearer to move more, has on-screen feedback and provides warnings and health insights. Do these weird smart gadgets sound interesting and desirable? Definitely? Do we need them? Probably not.
