There Are Air Purifying Headphones? Now We've Heard Everything!

Dyson is a multinational company that makes household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, air purifiers, hand dryers etc. Now they are turning to headphones – with a difference. Not only can we rely on these for piping sound into the ears, we can also get help breathing cleaner air, we are informed.

Air purifying headphones from Dyson

These headphones come with a visor that supplies filtered air for the nose or mouth to breathe in.

How it works

It cancels out noise and pollution, pollen etc. – presumably protecting us from more than one type of pollution.

Need of the hour

Our cities are terribly polluted and many of us use indoor air purifiers to protect ourselves and our families. This is another solution for this.

Many loved the idea

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to filter the air while out and about?

I want one!

Listen to music/fave podcast while breathing in filtered, unpolluted air? Why not!

Years of research

The company has invested a lot of time and R&D into this product according to reports.

Not yet launched

These air purifying headphones are not available in the market just yet. They will be launched later this year.

Some like the idea

Some, not so much.

Weird!

Some thought this was really weird and that it looked like some sort of ancient torture implement.

Or this

Bane from Batman (The Dark Knight Rises).

Why?

Who thought this was a good idea?

Not very practical

Some were wondering what type of gadget this is going to be.

How creepy!

It is a sign of what a dystopian world we live in that we should have to resort to something like this, felt a lot of the tweeple.

Is this a joke?

Some were wondering whether this had anything to do with the fact that the announcement was made just before 1 April.

Terrible idea!

While the pandemic is still a reality, this is a terrible idea because it will aerosolize what people breathe out.

Did we learn nothing?

In the past couple of years?

Some…

…Do not like the way it looks.

Kinky?

Some thought they seem a little kinky – which frankly says more about the commentator than the headphones.

The timing though

A lot of people were convinced that Dyson’s air purifying headphones were some kind of early April Fool’s Day joke. Dyson assures us they aren't.
