Now that the IPL is underway, cricket lovers have something to entertain them each evening and meme-meister have a lot of fine fodder for their creations. So here are some highlights and updates from IPL 2019 and some of the memes that are going around:
This team entertains and amazes us – often for the worst reasons. Royal Challengers Bangalore have played four, lamentably they have lost four. When they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by a whopping 118 runs, they truly amazed us – we didn’t know it was possible to lose a T20 game by that margin. RCB is currently a fixture at the bottom of the table.
The team is led by one of India's more successful captains but seems to be on a really long, never-ending losing streak.
In a nail biter, the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match required 5 off the last ball, but Kagiso Rabada kept his cool and gave just a single to win it for DC.
When KKR decided to bat first, it was due in large part, to Russell's 62 off just 28 balls that got the team to a very challenging 185.
Heading the defending champs Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni has ensured that his team remains unbeaten; at the top of the table so far. His doughty 75* off 46 balls just cocked a snook at his detractors.
Even with CSK floundering at one point, the captain still managed to steady the innings and presented a target of 175 to the Rajasthan Royals, which proved unbeatable.
RCB lost by seven wickets to RR and the Rajasthan team was relieved to have finally won a match (they’ve lost three out of four so far). Bowler Shreyas Gopal was a standout player for RR.
The RCB memes roll on. There bizarrely bad performance continues to dismay fans and delight opponents.
Virat Kohli seems a different person when he heads the national team and a different person as the RCB captain.
They're waiting. And waiting some more. As things stand right now, this is going to be a long, long wait.
DC lost to Kings XI Punjab
DC fans were not best pleased.
Curran claimed a hattrick. Clearly he can bowl and dance! Also he can bat; as his 20 off 10 balls indicated.
