Twitter never ceases to amaze me – most of yesterday the #गीता_भाटी_का_सैंडल_वापस_करो hashtag was trending. So why was the internet asking for the return of the shoes of some Geeta Bhati? Well, it turns out that said Geeta Bhati has been a part of the ongoing farmers’ protests. She claimed that her sandals were stolen by the police to foil the protests. Here’s what she said followed by what everyone else said:
She claims to be the National Head of Kisan Ekta Sangh Women Wing and says that her sandals were snatched away by the authorities. So she resolves to march on barefoot, regardless of her barefoot state.
The internet had many suggestions.

Soon this was a trending hashtag. Geeta Bhati perhaps became more famous than her wildest imaginings.
It was just carelessness to lose one's own shoes.
