There has been a great deal of conjecture and speculation about a large pillar-like structure that was discovered in Utah some days ago; which recently disappeared. Now a there has been news of a similar mysterious appearance of a structure in Romania as well. There has been news of another disappearance; that of a giant phallic structure in Germany. And now, a monolith has appeared in California. These structures are being called ‘monoliths’ though the term actually means very large stones and these appear to be metal and wood. What is this all about – apart from the idea that aliens are responsible – which is the conclusion many happily jumped to.
It was first spotted from a chopper by state biologists surveying sheep in the area. This is a 3 mt high triangular pillar placed on public land. According to reports, this was placed on the site in 2016 based on satellite images. The metal structure with three sides seemed to have a hollow centre.
The video of the discovery of this structure went viral of course, so lots of people turned up at the site to make their own assessments. Many decided that this was some sort of art installation. However, this structure mysteriously disappeared!
It probably helps that this looks like something out of a sci-fi film such as 2001 A Space Odyssey. The 1968 Stanley Kubrick movie featured monoliths created by an alien race called the Firstborn so perhaps this is not so unreasonable.
However it transpired that the monolith was actually dismantled and removed by four men – humans. It seems that all that attention to the structure meant visits from too many people and the probability of damage to ‘local Native American sites and artifacts’.
A monolith similar to the one in Utah appeared in Romania. This appeared close to Mount Ceahlau; which is locally known as the Holy Mountain.
The Romanian structure is a little taller and the surface is not like the Utah monolith. While people were debating about this being alien or manmade; someone asked OK, but would we know if we were looking at something alien?
Apparently, a local welder was responsible for this. Now that it is gone, there is just a hole in the ground to tell the tale.
This wooden structure, looking very much like a part of the male anatomy – called the ‘Holzpenis’ also disappeared! Located in the Bavarian region of Germany, this ‘cultural monument’ had been something of a tourist attraction. However, it appeared to have been sawn off in the middle of the night. So, one morning all that was left was sawdust!
And now another structure – almost identical to the one in Utah – appeared on a Californian hillside; Atascadero’s Pine Mountain to be precise. While the Utah monolith seemed to have been around for years, this one appeared suddenly.
So what does all this mean? Are these monoliths supposed to be a very elaborate prank requiring a lot of intercontinental coordination? Are they art? Are they sacred or technological? Or are they signs of an alien visitation after all? And final question --- do we care?
