What Is The Lockdown Effect? Twitter Tells Us

Sunday, 5th April of course was the light-a-lamp at 9 PM for 9 minutes national event. Everyone participated enthusiastically, some more than others. After all, the #LockdownEffect in these times of #COVID19 impact us in various ways. Twitter explained all:

The story everywhere

Entire neighbourhoods looked like this – with the lights switched off; lamps and torches visible everywhere.

Also this

#9Baje9Min was characterised by the bursting of firecrackers. This was noted all over India.

This happened as well

Inevitably, there were those over-enthusiastic folk who descended from their homes and did this – defeating the whole purpose of the lockdown.

The winner!

People had creative ideas.

Like this

Some seemed to want to outdo others in their enthusiasm. Corona Go has now become an anthem of our times.

This question

Most people found it difficult to get their hands on firecrackers even during Diwali. How did so many acquire such large quantities in the middle of the lockdown?

Meanwhile

For the first time, probably in living memory, the roads and streets are so deserted that this does not seem a farfetched scenario.

#Lockdown effect

People are trying to find possible positive outcomes of having to stay indoors.

Finding compassion

Suddenly people are developing sympathy for caged animals in zoos and so on.

Some are stuck into their phones

They lose track of time. So for them, it is business as usual.

Some strange pass-times have emerged…

…Such as random guys doing a Ranveer-Singh-impersonation.

Experimentation

Some are trying out new hair styles – including facial hairstyles.

Kids have their own ideas…

…About stuff to do to keep themselves entertained during the lockdown.

#NatureIsHealing

Ever since people have been tweeting about clear skies and being able to see distant objects because of low pollution levels, the sarcasm has started to flow.

Canada is like the promised land for some Punjabis – ergo, this.

And this

This guy clearly wants to go to Dubai. Well looking at how things are going right now, that desire is destined to wait for a very long time. COVID-19 looks as though it will be ruling our lives for a long time to come.
