When someone is really tall or really big this is fascinating, isn’t it! Why else is the Guinness Book of World records so fascinating – it’s all about the biggest, smallest, fastest, most amazing things and people and the amazing things people do. So when social media discovered a really huge cow in Australia, Knickers the big cow went viral in no time at all.
There is a cow in Australia called Knickers who is really, really big. Also this cow is really, really big news.
It would seem that we are all generally starved of good news. So a very large cow is cause for cheer. We find our happiness where we can, I suppose.
Why is this making the news headlines now? The cow that many are calling Cowzilla or CowGodzilla is truly enormous and presumably has been this enormous for some time how. It couldn’t possibly have grown to this size overnight – so why are we discovering cowzilla only now?
This cow is apparently as tall as Michael Jordan at 6’, 4” tall and weighs a whopping 3000+ pounds. As such this cow is literally too big for the abattoir.
This was literally a case of being saved by size! Here size was really, really important! Knickers the massive steer will live out the rest of his life on a farm safely because of sheer size.
So now that we are all talking about large cows, there is this other very large cow; bigger than Knickers! Dozer the gentle giant from Manitoba is a full inch taller! Take that, Knickers!
Then there was this random tweet about a big moose which was retweeted hundreds of times and got over 2k likes! Why? Who can tell!
While everyone was waxing eloquent about the size of one bovine, some pointed us in the direction of these other beautiful bovines so we could gush some more.
“Bring me the big cow” seems to be the general attitude of this great and enormous fowl.
Some reports suggest that the big cow story is a big exaggeration. Firstly this is not a cow, but a steer (neutered male). Secondly, this creature is standing amidst Wagyu cattle who are a smaller breed overall; which some feel it is “a bit like photographing a Great Dane in with a bunch of young black Labradors.”
Well that may all be so, and there may even be taller bovines in the world. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that Knickers is blood big! And if he gave a few moments of happiness to so many, who am I to blow against the wind!
