The BJP win in Gujarat & Himachal was largely expected, and save a few surprising twists, the results were largely as predicted. We look at the reactions to the win – from BJP supporters, Congress sympathisers and others who just decided to offer their two bits’ worth.
Earlier in the day when counting started, there were a few scares that the BJP experienced. However, later in the day, things seemed hunky dory for the saffron party. By evening they were positively ecstatic!
The visual of the defeated soul crawling into what appears to be a gutter elicited this response: “Seriously? Isn't that Amit Shah on being asked about Mission 150?”
The BJP win in Gujarat & Himachal did have its share of upsets, however. The seat of Unjha, the hometown of PM Narendra Modi was won by Congress. In response, one BJP supporter said that this was no big deal; even Roger Federer loses sometimes!

As it was witnessed by the massive rallies organised, by all the BJP heavyweights putting their might into campaigning and by a kind of desperation that we witnessed during the final legs of canvassing.
…Some people remembered to give credit to Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani who shot into the limelight following the horrific attacks on Dalits by cow vigilantes in Gujarat and who has been campaigning to give voice to the underprivileged.
