Yesterday on Twitter, people seemed to be tweeting gibberish – more than usual that is. Something gibberish looking phrase was trending – it was all very puzzling. Until I copied and pasted this into the Twitter search box and all was revealed. People were actually tweeting with “this claim is disputed” and variants of the phrase. Here’s what it was all about:
Donald Trump, the newly voted-out President of the United States has been rage-tweeting ever since the election was called in favour of his rival Joe Biden. He has been known to make exaggerated and outright false claims, with the result that Twitter fact-checkers routinely flag his comments as ‘disputed’.
Twitter has been placing disclaimers below many of Trump’s tweets and retweets. This is done when the claims made are disputed by independent fact-checkers or other reliable sources.
People started to make ‘false claims’ such as these.
That claim is clearly disputable since that is not a clean dog.
Numerous Indian parents have told their children this out and out lie.
With this tweet, they called out all those who mistakenly believe that drinking doesn’t affect their faculties.
The tweeple had a lot of fun making up variations of the general theme of making baseless claims.
That post when people claim to be ‘feeling good’ on social media? Experts would perhaps disagree.
This is one of Trump’s go-to phrases when making a particularly outrageous claim --- like this one.
Some made satirical comments about the arbitrariness recently shown by the Supreme Court. This tweet seems to refer to the granting relief to a powerful individual with alacrity while urgent and deserving matters are shelved.
It is now widely believed that the work of India's best known media anchor bears no resemblance to journalism; that can now only be termed only as entertainment or reality TV at best.
Such as demonetisation.
Many pointed out how India's position in the Global Press Freedom Index has continued to fall because of how journalists questioning the movement are targeted.
The economy being in the doldrums and joblessness at an all-time high, official as well as unofficial sources would dispute this particular claim.
