Remember Grumpy Cat – the cat that launched a thousand memes and lives on in millions of hearts and viral posts? Well, there was also Shiro, the world's ‘most relaxed’ cat who has moved on to the great yonder at the ripe old age of 18. The cat that helped so many express themselves and who made millions smile, is no more – RIP Shiro says the internet.
That is a lovely looking cat, no doubt. However, it is Shiro’s temperament that made this cat so beloved of the netizens. Shiro’s Instagram page describes him as a Turkish Van cat from Japan.
This cat clearly has zero f**ks to give. There is a snail on Shiro's paw, there is another curious cat communing with said snail, but Shiro is all Zen-like; oblivious to the proceedings.
When it was announced that Shiro had died on 2nd March, many were saddened by the news.
This is a cat that brought joy to so many. That feline face seemed always to be smiling; making others smile with him.
Shiro turned 18 and passed away that same day on his birthday.
People sent out their condolences from different parts of the world.
Animal lover and animal defence organisations also expressed their sadness at the demise of this most peaceful of animals.
Shiro’s passing made some people recall their own felines.
Cats are generally quite temperamental. They don’t generally take kindly to people putting stuff on their heads. Shiro really didn’t mind.
It was his beatific smile that endeared him to so many – if only some hyper humans could imbibe that relaxed attitude of Shiro the cat.
