After a long (and undoubtedly gruelling, given the horrendous heat) month of Ramzan, it is Eid! It is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal; a time for giving thanks, celebrating and feasting. It is also the time when kids receive their much awaited Eidi (usually a cash gift from elders and relatives).
People all over the world are wishing each other Eid Mubarak.
Because no biryani is as good as the biryani made by that Muslim friend!
People are busy wishing each other Eid Mubarak in a variety of different ways.
Kids have certain expectations from some people; fewer from others.
We may all expect something but receive something entirely different from that expectation.
Giving a child’s eidi to the mother is the last thing that kid wants because it means that it will be locked up somewhere and gone forever!
That is every older sibling ever, who did not get their eidi.
Eidi dries up after a certain age. Sad.
When reality meets expectation
When reality does not meet expectation
There will be some who may eat themselves into a food coma (not necessarily Muslims; but anyone celebrating this major festival.)
Here’s wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Eid; meanwhile enjoy this highly relatable video about Ramzan.
