Love Actually – When the Heart Finds a Way despite Lockdowns

These days we are seeing plenty of stories about love in the time of corona (with apologies to Gabriel García Márquez). With extreme quarantine restrictions and complete lockdowns in place, people are finding innovative ways to express love and even to get married. One man asked a woman out using a drone; another couple got married via video conferencing.

Jeremy Cohen’s tweet

Cohen is a photographer in New York. He looked outside his window and saw a girl dancing. He used a drone to send her his phone number and an hour later, he received a text from her. Last we heard, he is still trying to figure out a way to have a virtual date.

‘An hour’

One tweet expressed puzzlement about the time taken to respond.

Why not me!

Some wanted to be the girl who got that phone number.

Cute!

It was an inventive approach and it worked – cute, thought the tweeple.

And romantic

People thought that this sounded like a romantic novel one would typically read on Wattpad.

Some were like…

…She touched this random flying object that came flying? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of isolation?

But most people were like…

Most people were appreciative of the fact that people manage to improvise and adapt when the situation demands it.

Tell us more!

Clearly we cannot have enough innovative love stories.

Nikah via video conferencing

People found this very interesting as well, of course. Many sent in their good wishes to the newlyweds

Some had this idea

Have a virtual reception – it will save a lot of money. Some, however just wanted to know how they were going to manage to consummate this marriage.

Bottom line

The novel coronavirus pandemic has thrown up never-before challenges. People are determined to rise up to those and to ensure that love finds a way – even in the time of COVID-19.
