In recent days Delhi and surrounding areas have also been lashed by really heavy rains. This means water logging, traffic snarls, difficult-to-find taxis and other woes. And when have the people of Delhi ever been shy of expressing their feelings! So Delhiites were sharing rain memes, images and videos of the rain, what they loved and hated about it.
Chai and pakodas in the rain may be a bit of a cliché, but it is a simple fact that they go beautifully well with the sight and sound of the pounding rain. I am not much of a tea drinker, but even I enjoy it when it rains.
People were really enjoying the rains – choosing to get wet and really enjoy the downpour that uplifted so many hearts!
People were sharing images and videos of the downpour on social media. According to a lot of commentators, things are just more beautiful in the rain.
Not only are the trees all a freshly bathed, bright green, there are also the flowers that gladden the heart – and the olfactory senses.
The wet spell and continuing cloudy weather has taken care of the awful, oppressive heat.
The rain in Delhi has been quite torrential this year; unlike the usual pitter-patter that monsoons usually bring each year.
Usually when we speak about torrential rains, it is Mumbai rains that come to mind because of how heavy and incessant and paralyzing they can be. This time Delhi rains are putting up stiff competition.
It pours for hours, but quite thoughtfully, it stops by evening. The sun even manages to valiantly make an appearance.
After commenting about the lovely sound of the rain and the blessed drop in temperature, people got to complaining about various ways the heavy rains made life difficult.
Cabs were either impossible to find or they were charging far more than usual --- because surge pricing!
Perhaps this is a student who really needs to have enough attendance in college to get a hall ticket for exams?
All of us remember when heavy rains meant a school holiday. We all loved it – admit it!

Unless one has waded through waist high water to get to work, and then maybe spent the night at the home of a compassionate stranger because you couldn’t get home…one hasn’t really experienced rain.
Wise words, those. It makes sense to enjoy the cooler weather, admire the beauty of the flowers and trees, drink in delicious drops of rain as they fall and hear the musical cadence of the raindrops.
