The rigours of being a Fauji are many – there are tough postings in harsh and inhospitable conditions. There are the dangers of being located at the LOC. And there is the pain of being away from family and loved ones for extended periods; including during festivals and special days. Our soldiers have their own ways of celebrating; finding ways to remain upbeat even in the most difficult of conditions – as this video of soldiers singing Lohri songs in the snowfall shows:
This is not a new video, but it went viral on the occasion of Lohri.
It is Uttran of the kite festival in Gujarat, Pongal in the South, Bihu in Assam, Makar Sankranti in many other parts of the country.
The tweeple expressed love and respect for the courage our soldiers show; working in such tough conditions.
People took the opportunity to wish each other – especially the men and women in uniform at the LOC, LAC and other hostile environments.
And energising!
The vigorous voices of the jawans singing folksongs are a treat as well.
Lohri is a harvest festival that is important for the farming community – and the farming community is the one that sends so many brave hearts into the army.
It is heartening to see our soldiers in good cheer in the middle of difficult circumstances as well.
A big salute!
For a lot of people, the sight of the soldiers dancing and singing on the occasion of Lohri was uplifting. It is also reassuring to see that our men and women in uniform find these moments of joy in celebration!
