Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister announced the budget for 2018-19 and predictably, #Budget2018 started to trend even as he made his speech. Some announcements such as the long-term capital gains tax and the revision in the fiscal deficit saw the stock markets dip in reaction. The fact that there is no change in income tax slabs disappointed some, while the proposed investment in agriculture and increase in the Minimum Sale Price (MSP) pleased many.
Those of us who pay income tax will see no particular change in the coming year. There was an expectation that the exemption limit would be increased, and people were disappointed to see no change here.
