Airlines in India Were Having a Twitter Chat – Listen In

The lockdown may be tough to live through, but there is no doubt that with the internet and a device in every hand, there has never been a better time to live under lockdown. With flight services completely stopped for the time being, airlines decided to have a little chat on Twitter. Meanwhile, others shared never-before-seen pictures of planes parked on runways with nowhere to go fly.

Indigo kicked things off

They asked Vistara airlines why they weren't ‘flying higher’; commenting that it was better to be grounded -  #StayingParkedStayingSafe.

Air Vistara replied

There are times when it is good to be grounded; when it is the smart choice, said the official handle.

GoAir chimed in

Staying home is a safe feeling right now, chimed in another Indian airline.

Air Asia’s response

Air Asia’s official handle also roped in Spice Jet.

Spice Jet’s bird and cage analogy

We are creating a safer tomorrow says this tweet.

Bangalore Airport had this to say

With most aircraft being parked on runways at various airports, airports are currently the parking lots for airlines.

Mumbai airport had this to say

Sharing a picture of airplanes from various airlines lined up, Mumbai airport had this to say.

This pilot also chimed in

‘Until our flight paths cross again,’ said this Boeing pilot.

The story everywhere

Long lines of parked planes can be seen at airports around the world right now. New Zealand’s Nelson Airport looks like this as ‘a lot of NZ has ground to a halt.’

Never before seen images

The symmetry and majesty of all those parked planes cannot be denied. However the reason behind these images: the COVID-19 pandemic, is sobering. We don’t even know the long term repercussions of all these planes being grounded.

Plummeting demand

Even where there are no strict lockdowns in place, plummeting demands have grounded aeroplanes.

The chat between airlines may have entertained and uplifted the moods of many. If only the economy and normal life can be similarly uplifted and restored soon.
