We all know how IOA ran into controversies when they approached Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador for RIO Olympics. Right after that, IOA tried to make up for it and approached Olympic gold medallist, Abhinav Bindra along with A R Rehman and Sachin Tendulkar. Though Abhinav Bindra accepted the proposal quickly, Sachin Tendulkar’s approval came recently and the letter he wrote while accepting the post of goodwill ambassador for RIO Olympics is just amazing.

Sachin Tendulkar hit a remarkable note when he said that “I strongly believe that the sportspersons from different parts of the country, pursuing their unique skills are the true ambassadors of the growing sporting culture in this country.” Actually, he has a point there because whatever we are as a sports nation, we are because of our players.

Though he himself is a cricket legend, he showed modesty and gratitude by saying “It will be my pleasure to meet these world-class athletes before they leave for Rio to learn about their experiences and preparations.” Then he concluded stating “My best wishes to the entire contingent as we look forward to them proudly expressing themselves in Rio.”
