Poor Babies! Even They Are Facing Peer Pressure And Need To Learn How To Cope

Peer pressure among toddlers is something not many parents know about. Toddlers, children, teenagers, even grown ups like us have a social group and handling peer pressure is something That everyone needs to learn, preferably from the time that they are a child.

Talk to them

Your toddler needs to know that you will be there for him always. Ensure that you spend a certain amount of time with them everyday and know how their day went, how many friends they have, etc. This would allow them to open up in front of you in case of any problem.

Teach them not to compare

An important lesson while growing up, peer pressure starts happening because of constant comparisons among kids. If someone in your kids' nursery has a superhero bag, your kid would definitely compare his bag with that and ask you to buy one. This is a kind of peer pressure you must definitely ask your child to avoid.

Teach him to say no

Just because other kids in his group wants him to bring chocolates for all, your kid shouldn't succumb to that. Teach him that saying no is a part and parcel of life and there is nothing wrong with it.

Know his friends

Call your kids friend and check their behaviour. You can then warn your child about a potential bully and tell him the difference between a good and a not so good friend.

Don't force them to accept your viewpoint

Given the fact that they are toddlers, you can't make them understand everything. Talk to them in a caring way and don't force anything.

Let them participate in group tasks

Group tasks in schools are quite important for building a toddler's personality. These activities would help him to know exactly how to deal with different individuals and teach them a thing or two about peer pressure.

Ask family members to help

Family members can be of great help when dealing with toddlers. Ask them to sit with your child and share a few examples on peer pressure and how to evade them. If done in an interactive way, this could be helpful for your kid.
