Leon Dame & Other Meme-Worthy Moments from the Paris Fashion Week

Fashion Weeks have little to do with most of us – mostly they are about avant-garde designers creating unwearable things for angry and anorexic looking people. We can afford to laugh a little at this world peopled by the privileged; which seems to have such disconnect with reality as well know it.

Deliberately un-functional

This bag – dubbed The Meteor retails for $1,665. It has big holes cut right through it which caught everyone’s eye. Because why have a bag that cannot hold anything?

These shoes

This pair of shoes also follows the same ‘holey’ theme from Off-White creative director Virgil Abloh. And one again has to ask why.

Cruella DeVille

This coat reminded people of the villain from 101 Dalmatians.

Cardi B grabbed eyeballs

This strange outfit sported to the Fashion Week by Cardi B, songwriter and rapper also caught the eye of celeb-spotters and meme-makers.

Ezra Miller did as well

The actor can always be expected to shock and/or amaze. He rarely fails.

This was spotted

Strange headgear, weird outfit, out-there shoes… take your pick.

This strange object

“What’s not to like,” asked fashion critic Vanessa Friedman. The sheer stupidity of it, would be my answer.

Then there was this

German model Leon Dame made quite a splash not so much with the outfit as with his (yes his, not her) strange walking style.

Many interpretations

The tweeple expressed their amazement at this bit of the Margiela show.

People are going to remember this

For some good, some not-so-good reasons.

“Breaking the rules”

Apart from the fact that this caught everyone’s eye and earned the designer a great deal of visibility, people feel that this fulfils one of the purposes of fashion. One could say that it is the job of fashion not only to clothe but also to shock and make one think.

Meanwhile

And then designers Viktor and Rolf turned it all on its head and made couture out of memes.

Because…

Why not.
