I am amazed by people who use cutlery such as a spoon, fork and/or knife to eat items such as pizza or dosa. I don’t approve of them, but I am amazed. Now it turns out that certain heathens presume to eat the robust paratha with knife and fork. How does one do that? And more importantly, why? Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha of Bend it Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice fame shared this post on Twitter:
The plate has the necessary accompaniment of butter, but instead of fingers, some poor misguided soul is using fork and knife. The poor misguided soul is the child of Chadha according to her own confession.
Fiteh moo, said Chadha and people agreed. The Punjabi Fitteh mooh or dur fitteh mooh means something like 'may your face/mouth burn in hell' according to some sources.
Basically it’s the equivalent of a face palm gesture.
This is just wrong, felt the tweeple.
There are some people who eat pineapple on their pizza. This is something similar, the tweeple felt.
What about pickle and curd, asks this Twitter commentator.
Preferably this pickle.
Someone noticed the pickle on the table and seemed to approve of it.
There is a right way to eat aloo ka paratha and there is a wrong way to do it, as this tweet helpfully illustrates.
Some also noticed the type of curd used and pointed out how some choices could be a mistake.
Those disapproving aunties have their eye on everything and are ready to disapprove.
When something starts to malfunction, you turn it off and then on again. Should work with kids as well, thought this commentator.
A parantha should be eaten with the fingers, which should then be properly licked clean --- like this. Perhaps someone could teach Gurinder Chadha's son the right way to eat a paratha, suggested the tweeple.
