Some Engineers from University of Michigan have come up with a new technology, the Batman software that allows users to instruct their smartphones with sense power or pressure on its screen. The saying is, it’s not what you touch, it’s how you touch it. With this technology the way we handle our smartphones will definitely change. Here are some things about the ForcePhone that will totally impress you.
“ForcePhone” is an innovative technique to use your mobile more quickly and efficiently. You can just squeeze your Smartphone to make a call; ForcePhone brings pressure-sensitive display technology, comparable to the 3D Touch that came first on the iPhone 6S.
To make the ForcePhone Software, the researchers used ultrasonic waves to imitate the special effects of 3D Touch with no need for a unique screen technology.
The ForcePhone has amplified user interface devoid of any special built-in sensors. ForcePhone increases the interaction between the phone and the user.
The software also allows users to press harder on the screen button to let loose a set of choices of supplementary options, alike to right-clicking with a mouse.
The software uses a Smartphone’s microphone and speaker to send out ultrasound casing the 18-24 KHz range. It is further than the range of frequencies detectable by the human ear, but can be pulled out up by the phone’s microphone.
The ForcePhone creator, Tung elucidated that he was enthused to make the software after watching “The Dark Knight”, in which the Batman turns all the smart phones in Gotham City into a sonar system as high-frequency audio indications skips off the city’s infrastructure.
ForcePhone is not geared up to roll out the in the tech-world, but its demonstration was given at MobiSys 2016 in Singapore on June 27-29.
