There is a flood of content to watch on various OTT (over-the-top) streaming platforms these days, with Netflix being the leader of the pack in terms of content quantity and quality. When Netflix announced two days of free access for everyone, nonsubscribers were predictably delighted. The tweeple may or may not have been busy watching shows, but they were certainly busy creating and sharing memes.
Some thought it sounded too good to be true.
What to watch?
There were weighty decisions to make; calculations to do.
We all love freebies, don’t we.
Everyone was lining up for #NetflixFree
Netflix said that they “we may limit the number of StreamFest viewers” so that everyone had the best viewing experience.
If someone couldn’t access the stream fest because Netflix was at capacity, they could access their two days at a later date.
There were those who were not able to access the free service for other reasons.
…So little time data.
There are many who rely only on pirated content and have nothing to do with paid subscriptions such as Netflix.
Even those who usually watched only pirated content.
There were many who loved the idea of #FreeNetflix for two days.
Those who made full use of their two free days may have ended up looking like this.
It was a busy couple of days.
There were many who were too busy with Netflix to be on social media.
Obviously, this is a marketing gambit whereby Netflix hopes that that having people experience the wonders that lie in wait will convert them into paid susbscribers.
Netflix hopes that this will make people more willing to pay for content.
After two days of Netflix Streamfest, Netflix was back to paid content.
After #FreeNetflix for two days many users were back to whichever pirated content source they usually used.
